For the fourth time in five years, a jury (after deliberating for 11 days), could not reach a verdict on the racketeering conspiracy and murder charges pending against John Gotti Jr. Gotti walked out of jail on a $2 million bond while the government considers whether to seek a new trial. Gotti’s sister Victoria, when asked about the possibility of a fifth trial said “Just let him go. We’re no organized crime family. We’re a family. That’s all we are.” At some point, federal prosecutors must decide to end this case lest it turns from the prosecution to the persecution of John Gotti.
